Stanford Researchers Attend the World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists

The World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists (WCERE), the leading international conference in the field of environmental and resource economics, brought together ~1,600 researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from around the world and included representation from the five sister regional associations: the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE), the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE), the Latin American and Caribbean Association of Environmental and Resource Economics (LAERE), the Asian Association of Environmental and Resource Economics (AAERE), and the African Association of Environmental and Resource Economics (AFAERE). The Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability was strongly represented, with Professors Inês Azevedo (who also served on the organization committee for the Congress), Larry Goulder, Charles Kolstad, Hélène Benveniste, Sara Constantino, postdoctoral researcher Lisa Rennels, and several other Stanford researchers. “What an amazing opportunity to learn from colleagues around the world about how to tackle the most pressing environmental challenges through economic mechanisms, policy, and a better understanding of human behavior and decision-making" - said Azevedo. The Congress was co-chaired by Professor Maria Antonieta Cunha e Sá and Professor Simone Borghesi and was hosted by Nova School of Business and Economics (Portugal).
